I watch premier league football. Thinking about managerial sackings and what that says about the time it takes to build something, the constant cycle of team formation and renewal, external disruptions and competition, and the challenge of performing while all this is happening.

I’d rather face a economic downturn and a potentially disruptive technology (LLM) than just a downturn.

Taking stock of how often I laugh out loud when I work with my fellow Striders… it’s a lot.

Remote Gemba: Gemba (現場) is a leadership philosophy that values being physically present where the work is done. As a coder, my gift wasn’t craft it was a proven ability to ship working code that delivered the behavior people needed. To do that consistently I became collaborative and thanks to that I kept a student mindset and thanks to that I learned the XP practices that built my craft.

And thank you Nathaly for challenging me to include different levels of experience in our strategic comversations.

Just recorded one hour of information for our Striders on our 2022 financial performance, 2023 budget and objectives and key results, how that supports sustainability in our strategy, and our 10-15 year ambitions. I’ll edit and release internally in video, audio and transcript.

Feedback is to cut it into sections and provide some kind of cliff notes. Because, well, it’s an hour long.

Um. The CHOOSECOLS and CHOOSEROWS functions in Google Sheets appears to have become undefined in my sheets and CHOOSECOLS has disappeared from the docs but not the index. I need a cookie.
