PJM's New Interconnection Process

PJM is adopting a “first-ready, first-served” interconnection process to hasten grid connections, mainly for renewables. It requires developers to provide readiness deposits and site control proofs to weed out speculative projects and reduce backlogs.

This is an attempt to reduce the wait times which averages in years. And arguably contributes to the number of proposed renewable energy projects that are never built.

Solar Industry's Workforce Challenge

To meet US decarbonization targets, the solar industry needs 800,000 workers by 2030. Companies like Terabase Energy and Sarcos Robotics are developing autonomous robots to reduce that demand. Their robots use cameras to identify installation spots for solar panels, and a specialized arm to place them. The arm then switches to a mode that lets a human align and secure the panel. I hope there’s also investment in worker retraining. https://lnkd.in/e-_9hD_u

Jira Issue Summary Confusion

In Jira, changing an issue summary has no save button - but does require clicking off of it before closing the issue modal or the change is lost. While with issue details, there’s a save button. This is as intuitive as a non-Newtonian fluid. It’s like watching an over-rehearsed improv where the jokes are all third level elaborations of what was originally funny and made sense in context.

Visualizing Release Progress in Jira

Does anyone have a suggestion for visualizing progress to a release against a kanban board in jira. I will not be on the project to maintain the reporting so best if it’s a third party reporting app integration . I’m going to evaluate “Great Gadgets”

Reflections on Product Tools and AI

Haven’t worked in a product role in a while. Loving notion, miro and figma. All three incorporating AI. Not as impressed with jira. It has evolved but I can still feel friction using the tool and the affordance is rough. “How do I…?”

Embracing Passive Voice in Writing

At times, I take pleasure in passive voice. When my mood is captured by doing so.

Seeking Ethical Collaboration for Growth

I am capable of kinder, more ethical action. That is why I’ve sought out people better at it than I am. With their guidance and collaboration I can better help others. It’s the outcome of that help which will determine whether I am a good person #ImposterSyndrome #PersonalGrowth #LeadershipForum #ContinuousImprovement

Embracing My Product Role

Stepping back into a product role, I’m feeling the joy of honoring what I consider almost a prime directive, that the rest of the team feel confident in the next step and reassured that product has their back.
